Just announced via Entertainment Weekly, Mondotees will be doing a poster for the upcoming J-Pop sensation: Sucker Punch. I really want to like this movie but then again I really wanted to like Zack Snyder’s version of the Watchmen too… and that movie made me want to punch a baby.
We’re getting two posters both are 24” x 36”, the original (edition of 285, $45):

And the variant (edition of 105, $70):

I think I’m digging the variant more here.

Hello again! Its been a long hiatus, and while I contemplate what I want to do with this blog I couldn’t resist posting about this release. Over-all I haven’t really been interested in the Star Wars series that Mondotees has been doing. I think as each artist “inteprets” Star Wars in one way or another it becomes more about their personal style than making a really slick poster that “feels” like the movies. Olly Moss’ trilogy of posters were stunning and came as close as any have to actually capturing that feeling I’m talking about. However the just announced final release of the series from Tyler Stout is fucking mind blowing. Great enough to make me actually update this damn blog!
The news was released via UGO. One poster for each movie in the original trilogy, plus variants of each. Each poster is 24” x 36” and the edition size is 875 standard/325 variant (which I believe must be for each poster and not total which is a massive edition size for Mondo). They are being released New Years eve at a “random” time, Mondo has changed up the way they announce releases so your best bet is to be on their site refreshing like a madman around 11-12 pm EST.

Haven’t posted about Mondotees in a while, mostly I haven’t caught a release from them before it was long gone. Sort of disappointed with the Star Wars/Trek releases as I feel like those have been sort of lack luster with a few exceptions. However, there are a few prints going onsale tomorrow that look pretty excellent. Particularly a Beetlejuice poster from Rich Kelly (who, at this point I assume, does not ever sleep). These go on sale tomorrow at a “random” time (1 pm EST).

Beetlejuice by Rich Kelly - Hand numbered edition of 150, 18” x 24” for 30 bux HERE.
Read MoreVia OMG Posters! we have another Alamo Drafthouse poster. These were on sale at a screening last night and as luck would have it Mondo has some left over that they’re selling online today at a random time (1 pm EST more than likely). This also goes along great with SHARK WEEK! (although I doubt a shark would eat a zombie, they don’t move around enough to be seen as food.. natch!)

Zombie has an edition of 190, 24” x 36” and will be $40. Check Mondotees through out the day for the drop.
Mondo decided to give SlashFilm the scoop on their latest release in the Star Wars series. The poster by Tomer Hanuka is entitled “Father: Encounter on Dagobah”, hand numbered edition of 250, 19” x 25”. It goes onsale tomorrow on mondotees.com. These will sell out very quickly, I suggest signing up for Mondo’s newsletter or following @mondonews on Twitter if you’re into the print.

Been sort of dry in the print scene lately, at least for my discerning (skull obsessed) tastes. Mondo had another awesome poster release for the movie Moon (which is great if you haven’t seen it yet). Otherwise I’ve been slammed with work and I’m getting ready to go on a vacation. My only update today I’m conflicted about. On one hand Drew Millward has created an awesome piece of original artwork posted below. But the reason for this piece’s creation is to support the family of Ryan August, one of folks behind I Want Your Skull, who died on the 11th in a car accident. The piece is being bid on over on the Gigposter’s forum.

Got some new stuff incoming from Mondotees, Bride of Frankenstein print by Martin Ansin (plus glow in the dark metallic variant) and Richard Pryor by Shepard Fairey Ken Taylor. These all go onsale today at noon EST. Check out Mondo’s shop here for more info.

Bride of Frankenstein by Martin Ansin, hand numbered edition of 235, 24” x 36” for 45 bucks.
